Twilight was amazing. For me to say that is pretty amazing because I am super protective of books I read that are made in to movies. This time I really didn't have complaints. I saw the movie and walked away raving about it. There were a few things added to the movie, like a friend of Charlie's not in the book, but that was ok, it really added to the movie in the end. I am a little bummed that Jasper's power was never explained, but I guess the explanation that he was new to their diet helped people who hadn't read the books understand.
The special effects were ... ok. My friend and I both thought they were worthy of a BBC special, but in the end I feel like really detailed effects would have distracted from the overall feel of the movie. The clothing and sets were pretty simple too, but I think that works so well with the fact that they were filming in a beautiful part of the country. I think detailed costumes and sets would have been distracting from the setting, and the setting is pretty important. I liked that it was pretty obvious when it was a sunny day, and how odd it was that is was sunny.
The casting was done so well. I had my doubts about some of the actors, but, like I said before, I walked away raving about the movie. I was already ok with Bella and Edward, but when I finally saw them on screen I loved that they were cast for those parts. Bella came off a lot stronger than in the books in my opinion. I love that they included her clumsiness. Edward was breathtaking. There are so many (romantic) moments when his expressions say so much. Carlisle's entrance was amazing! Jasper and Alice didn't get nearly enough lines, but their presence was good. Rosalie was a total bitch, which means she did her job well. Emmett was the bro I knew he was. Charlie was lovable. Really. I don't like him much in the books, but they added so much to him in the movie I couldn't help but love him.
Overall, great movie, which I plan on going to see many more times.
