nice night

Actually had a lot of fun seeing an old friend. I must be getting old because I get tired when it gets late. My bones are also more prone to being sore the next morning too. Ahh... age. I know thee well.

Still no idea

Costumes figured out: 0

I have about 2 hours before I need to leave to house and get to a party. I have no costume figured out. I could go as Bella Swan. Easy because I could just wear jeans and a Team Edward shirt. Stay warm too. I could also go as a black cat. Head to toe black clothing, only problem is I don't have ears or tail. I could be a witch. Harry Potter themed or not. I have tons of stuff to do it with. Plus some really awesome spiderwebby tights. Then I have all my Harry Potter stuff so I could be Tonks or something. I could whip together a greek goddess outfit. I have tons of gold accessories and a white dress that could look kinda goddess like. I could also go as Amy Winehouse since I have this dress that looks like something she would wear. Not skinny enough though. I could go as a hippie, but I would just be wearing clothes I already wear, so it wouldn't be a costume really.Hmmm...

overachieving like a bandit

Number of naps so far today: 1
Number of calories burned: 280
Motivation level to finish out the semester: 8
Number of sighs today: NONE! (good, but also sad)
Homework assignments getting a head start on: 2 (woah... on a thursday too!)

No joke. I'm actually studying for a quiz I won't have for another two weeks. I realized that it is possible for me to pass that class (with a low B no less!) so I figured I could go for the B. If I get a C, well... it'll be the first one for me since I started college, but that's ok. I can live with it. Also getting info for what next speech will be about. Not sure yet, but like looking over my options a little more ahead of time than the night before.

Speaking of night before. Tomorrow is my FAVORITE holiday ever. I've been contemplating what to be and then suddenly today I realized I'd need something for tomorrow. Will probably go as a cat. Or Marie Antoinette if I can sew up a corset in less than 24 hours. So I'll be a cat. Or a witch. Want to go to Rocky Horror after the party, but sadly I heard it is sold out.

Disappointed that The Office wasn't all about Halloween. If they started out with it why not just run with it? Have some crazy activities in the conference room that Micheal came up with. Include Pam's experiences. It could have been an entire episode. Instead it felt like two mini episodes packed into one. Also annoyed that it's basically a copy of past episodes, which at this point isn't surprising. Not only did they repeat the Halloween thing (though I didn't mind it), but they repeated the copying someone thing. Jim did it to Dwight in season 3. It happened pretty much the same way too. At the end Dwight came in dressed as Jim, just like Andy did in this episode. Missed Ugly Betty and Kath and Kim, but did manage to see new 30 Rock. Still hilarious I'm glad to say. Tina Fey is a comic genius.

Books checked out: 2

I have a serious problem. I check out books I find in the library that sound awesome, even though I know I'll never have time to read them. So they just sit around gathering dust, get rechecked, and then the day before I have to return them I pick one up, start reading, and realize I then have to keep the book overtime because now that I've started it I have to finish it.

Still haven't seen last weeks episode of Kath and Kim, The Office or Ugly Betty. The Office is dissapointing this season. Ugly Betty needs more Gio. I'll probably go on Hulu and wind up watching Moonstruck again or Invader Zim episodes.

I can't pack tonight because I'm too tired. Got home to have my grandma tell me I smelled like someone's aftershave. Wouldn't believe me when I said it was nothing. Wish it was something though. Sometimes I think I'll end up like Bridget Jones' always thought she would; a spinster. But in the end she gets Mr. Darcy... so everything will be ok.

Damn you Jane Austen for giving me unrealistic ideas about men!

Billy the Bard is so badass. And so is Kenneth Branagh. His version of Hamlet and Much Ado are so awesome. Every time I see Much Ado I get the urge to run around a vineyard in a white flowy frock and organize a massive masquerade. In fact... I'll go do that right now.

I want to make some freezer paper shirts tomorrow. One will be "I (heart) (dinosaurs)" because I do love me some dinos. Then I'm gonna make one that says "Barack the Vote" and another that says "Brunettes not fighter jetts." For the last one I'm torn between making "I (heart) (heart) the doctor" (ahhhh doctor who) and a shirt that says "wish I was chillin, with bob dylan" gah gah. Must work on assignments now.

Plus I need to watch and analyze a movie for a massive essay. Then I need to review "W." and write an informative story on McCain. Oh... and did I mention the pounds I still haven't lost?

At least I'm going out of town this weekend. That'll keep me motivated.

The Finale was tonight. I LOVED that Kenley was the first one 'aufed' tonight. I think she finally realized that amazing clothes don't mean anything if you've got a bad attitude. I loved when they showed her backstage when Time Gunn was announced as the final judge. She said something like, "I guess I should have changed my attitude then." No shit. I do really like the clothes she makes, especially the wide skirts, but to quote every lane motivational poster in elementary school "attitude is everything." Korto's collection was pretty stunning too. I really had a hard time picked between Korto and Leanne, but in the end I felt that Leanne was the rightful winner. Props to Korto for making those last minute outfits that look fabulous. Her use of color and beads was awesome. Leanne's use of the simple colors really made me pay attention to the design itself. I agree with Nini Garcia that there were too many petals, but I think with more time and experience we'll see a lot of evolution from Leanne. As much as I do like her, I still think Christian Siriano was the most likely of all the winners to become a big name.

And now for some browsing...Top from Urbanoutfitters.com. I really love this silhoutte. It's not too wide. I also love the pleating and ruffles on the collar. And that one button that probably has no function.

I want some moccasins! I found these on Nordstroms site. They have them in three other colors, but I figure these won't show dirt as much as the others. I want.

These are cute too. I found these same boots on Nordstrom and Urbanoutfitters so I can't go wrong. I figure these are the one I should buy because not only it winter coming, but I will soon be moving to a colder climate. Perfect!

I finally found a coat that I could live with. It's not the plaid I have in mind, but it's close enough. It's got kind of a fuzzy hood (not too much, which is cool). Plus it has finger holes which is ... useful? (nordstrom.com)

I really want to break out my tights this winter, only I'll probably be too much of a wimp. These would be a perfect dress for that if I did though. The colors are awesome(Urbanoutfitters.com)

I am constantly breaking my sunglasses (the ones I'm using now aren't even 6 months old and they're missing a screw and chipping and it's just so tragic because they're just so awesome and massive). I'm always on the lookout for new glasses because I know eventually I will need them. These are pretty awesome. I like the boldness of them. (Urbanoutfitters.com)

Seriously, I should have buckled down and studied awhile ago. Mid-terms are a pain. Just read three plays in an hour. Ouch. Head hurts. I had to make two cups of tea. Yeah, I don't use coffee, energy drinks or cigarettes to keep myself going. I'm so hardcore I drink tea to stay awake. Heck yes. I would have been happier if my Ruckus account would work, but for some stupid reason the player refuses to acknowledge I'm a member, even though the site will let me log on. GAH!

Sometimes I'm super jealous of Edward's power. I would love to know what people are thinking. I'll admit that it would be super creepy at times, but I think I would benefit from it greatly. I could totally know the answer to a question, I could see when people were lying and best of all I could anticipate questions instead of just being put on the spot. Yep. That would be pretty sweet indeed.

I have to interview someone tomorrow but I have a class during that time. Don't know how this will work. Maybe I shouldn't have put this off for three weeks.

Back to studying.

I caught up on Gossip Girl episodes. I liked the books, but I'm not so sure about the series. Sometimes I like it, but sometimes I don't. I want them to bring in Aaron (wasn't it Aaron who was Blair's step-bro?). He added some cool tension. I read the series back in high school so now I can't remember all the things that happened. Plus more books have come out since then.

Watched first episode of Kath and Kim. It was ... ok. Didn't really impress me or get my attention. I felt like they were trying too hard in some places. It was almost overacted. I love the sad clothes they were though. Whoever does wardrobe deserves some respect for actually finding things like that. I'll keep watching it to see how it goes. The next episodes will probably be better since the first one focused on introductions. I want to see the original.

Have I mentioned that The Office is really disappointing me this season? Well, it is. Heroes, on the other hand, is kickass.

I can't believe Kenley got to show, but Jarrel didn't! I love Project Runway, but tonight I was disappointed. I see how Kenley's design was great, but she's had the problem of imitating other designers before. I felt like Jarrel was going to win, but I guess I'm wrong. I hope Leanne or Korto win.

I'm thinking about being Bella (from Twilight) for Halloween. (image from Edwardandbella.net)

I can do the hair no problem. I have jewelry that's similar to hers too. I don't have a shirt like that, or pants like that. Or those shoes. Here's the thing though... as awesome as it would be to wear a costume like that (because it's pretty similar to stuff I do wear) I don't think a lot of people would recognize it as Bella. I'm going to make a necklace with a massive crystal heart and an antique looking locket (with Edward's picture in it of course), so that might help fans recognize me. I could also wear my "Team Edward" shirt. Either the one I made or one that I've bought. Whatever I do I need to lose some weight. I'll just go to the gym tomorrow... a lot. And next week too... and the next week. Theoretically I could get in 10 hours between now and then. Hmmm....

Twilight Twilight Twilight Rob Pattinson.... Twilight... EDWARD...

That's basically my mind right now. On StephenieMeyer.com there's a playlist of the movie soundtrack... and Robert Pattinson is on there. And so is muse... but I have to say I'm more excited about Robert Pattinson. I also saw that the LA premiere for the movie is November 17. Which sucks because I have school stuff that night, so I CAN'T GO! I have no words. I have lots of dissapointment and regret. I should have planned ahead more. Oh, and Coachella is also scheduled for a weekend during the school year too. Could someone whose planning any of these things please attempt to make it work with my schedules? PLEASE?

Anyway. Here's some cute stuff to make me feel better. If I had tons of money I would totally buy this stuff for my friends and family for Christmas, but I don't have tons of money so ... too bad. First up... a coat from Urban Outfitters.com.Love peacoats, and I love grey. It looks so warm. They have it in black and plaid. Don't love it $178 though. Sorry self, you won't be getting this for Christmas...

The rest are from FredFlare.com.

Ice trays shaped like jewels... am I the only one amused by this? I could use juice and make really cool colored jewels too. I'm pretty sure I know a few people who would like this too.

Does anyone else remember the peanuts? I always watch the seasonal specials because they represent so much of my childhood. I remember opening up the comic section ever sunday and reading that strip first. Ahhh... I can hear the great pumpkin already....

These sound so legit, but also so hilarious. I want to get this for some family members who are under the false impression that they are "hip."

I don't have pierced ears, but that doesn't stop me from wanting PB&J earrings. Look, they're smiling!

I really want to get one of these for one of my fashion forward friends. I think she'd really like it.

I'm sure nothing would fit into that, but that doesn't stop it from being cute. I know couple of people who could use this for their excessive change.

This looks delicious. I love frozen stuff, and hot chocolate, and frozen hot chocolate sounds wonderful.

Totally me. I hate when people don't take care of my good books. I don't care about the old used books I have, but for the love of Yoda... don't drop my copy Twilight, or Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, in mud or anything else. And give me back my books!!!

Guilty pleasure. I watch Gossip Girl when I get a chance. Loved to books, but love the fashions on the show better.

More Peanuts goodness. Charlie Brown's Christmas tree. I love how it's so sad, but in the end it kinda gets redeemed.

So massive. So awesome. These are SPEAKERS. iPod speakers. I'm in love, even though I really don't need these, but who cares?

I went to a women's talk thingy today and it was actually pretty cool. The only bad thing was it made me think about how lost I feel sometimes. I'm not one or the other. I'm just in between. I need to read some Amy Tan and other women writers to see how they deal with the in betweens of life. Traditional versus modern. One side versus the other. I just want to feel like I really belong to something, but I always feel liked I'm being pulled in serveral different directions. I could be ok with that, except for the fact that I have to check that little box every once in awhile that reduces me to one thing, typically one word. When I really don't feel like I'm one thing, but checking "other" isn't exactly descriptive either. "Other" makes me think... other species... other galaxy. I feel like people also reduce me to the race they attribute my last name to. That's not cool either. Every semester someone messes up my first name, I correct them, and then they look really carefully at the role sheet, like I'm lying, and then finally check me off. Like I wouldn't know how to say my own name.

It rained today. It kinda rained a week or so ago, but today it REALLY rained. I love rain. I love the rainy smell. The wet concrete. The soggy dirt. There's something calming about it all.

I finally made something out of the awesome flannel plaid fabric I got as a remnant from Joann's. It still needs to be finished, seams, buttons, stuff like that, but the basic garment is complete. I was originally going to make an awesome lined hoodie, but I really didn't have enough plaid to make it. Then I was going to settle for a hoodie, but I cut it too small on the bottom, and too loose around the top. Then I sat around for a week and finally tonight I figured out what to do. Either I could cut it into a cropped hoodie, or I could make a capelet. I decided to make a capelet. It's actually pretty cute. It has a hoodie and once I have time (next weekend) I'm going to add awesome button closures. I'll take pictures as soon as it's wearable. I'm so proud.

More movies

2012

Iron man 3: yes, already a three, which I assume means they're making a second one between now and then. Hope they don't totally kill the franchise.

The Hobbit 2: Assuming that they are making it a two part movie because, unless I'm horribly mistaken there isn't a sequel to The Hobbit. Might also be events between The Hobbit and Fellowship. Either one will be cool. Peter Jackson is on for it.

2011

The Bard (second part?): About Robert Burns one of my fav poets. Cool that they're making this. I know Gerard Butler was supposed to make a Robert Burns movie years ago, but I guess he's too good for that now....

Brave New World: Guessing it's based on the book that I've been meaning to read. Seriously, is there ever time to read anymore?

Chronicles of Narnia: Silver Chair: Another one? Notice the trend of developing a sequel before the other movies are successful....

Dylanology: Really cool premise. About the people surrounding Bob Dylan.

H. R. Pufnstuff: What's with making old things new again? I will probably see this. Can't wait to see Fraggle Rock.

The Hobbit: First part. All I really know is Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis are on for it. I really don't need more reasons to see this movie than those.

How to be Single: Not much about this, but I will assume it is a biopic of my life.

Sex and the City 2: Could be fabulous, could be failure. We'll have to see. Just waiting for the day they make Gossip Girl into a movie.

Sigmund and the Sea Monsters: See H. R. Pufnstuff above.

Spanking Shakespeare: Bummed that there isn't any more info on this. I have no idea what this about. I'm slightly weirded out, but also curious.

Valentine's Day: Directed by the king of American Romcoms, Garry Marshall. Sounds like Love Actually, only on valentine's day instead of Christmas. Will most likely see this.

Movies in 2010

I was on imdb today and I found a link to "School of Rock 2: America Rocks." No lie. There's nothing on it, but I assume it's the sequel to Jack Black's movie. It's scheduled for 2010, so maybe it'll be updated in the next few months.

"Aida" is also coming out in 2010, which is cool since I've never seen it on stage.

Ooo... and Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" is coming out too. I just saw some production photos of Alice on costumer's guide, and I want that jacket! Johnny Depp is supposed to be the Mad Hatter.

"Wicked" is also supposed to be made into a movie. As long as they cast Menzel and Chenowith I'll be ok with it.

"Anchorman 2" .... I just had a conversation today about how he needs to stop making movies.

"Austin Powers 4"??? Why? Another guy that needs to stop with the movies.

"Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of Dawn Treader" Never read it. Probably should. Still want to see it even though they make me laugh at innapropriate moments.

"Clash of the Titans" a remake. I've always wanted to see the original. I hope they don't totally ruin it for the hardcore fans of the original.

"Eat, Pray, Love" is apparently in the works to. I'm guessing it's based on the book. I read the book and wasn't impressed. I just kept wanting that woman to get over it and start enjoying her life instead of depending on men. I think Meg Ryan would be the perfect actress for the lead role.

"Emma" is an Austen novel dear to my heart, so I'm hoping that this movie is based on the book. Of all the adaptations of Emma I hate to say "Clueless" was the best.

"Fahrenheit 451" Liked the book. I'm pretty sure this was already made into a movie at some point. Hopefully this will be a pretty decent adaptation.

"The Friday Night Knitting Club" sounds like a romcom and it has Julia Roberts. Chic-flick that I will most likely see.

"Garbo" I actually think this will be cool. She was an interesting woman. I think it'll be cool to see how her life is translated into a movie.

"Hairspray 2" John Waters is on for it. I don't really know what to say. I guess it could be good, but it could also be a complete disaster. I thought the first one ended pretty nicely, but I guess there could be more (?).

"Harold and Kumar 3" is this really necessary?

"The History of Love" Alfonso Cuaron is making another movie!

"I dream of Jeannie" Really? I hope this is actually about the series unlike "Bewitched".

"The Jungle Book" Live action. I might be mistaken, but I remember a live action one from my childhood. It wasn't that bad. Don't think I'll watch this one.

"Knights Templar" I hope this is as awesome as it should be.

"New Moon" I'm thinking this is the sequel to Twilight. Not totally excited for this since it was my least fav of the series, but I'll watch it anyway (as long as it has Robert Pattinson). Don't know how non-fans will like the majority of the movie being about Bella's depression.

"Sherlock Holmes" It has Robert Downey jr. How could it not be good?

"Shrek Goes Fourth" No... it shouldn't.

"Toy Story 3" Cute that it is aging. Supposed to be about the kid going to college.

"Wuthering Heights" If Robert Pattinson was in this I'd be all for it. I wasn't that much of a fan of the book.

I don't remember if I've mentioned this before, but I love the smell of books. I don't know if it's the age, dust or paper, but there's something distinct about their smell. I was using a dictionary in class today and I got a whiff of it as I was turning the pages, then I got closer and just flipped through the pages. It was such a unique smell. It reminded me of immediately of the Sabriel books I have. It's weird though because the dictionary was super old, but my Sabriel books aren't nearly as old. So maybe I just judge books by the type of paper or something. Whatever it is I like it. I'll never forget the way my first Harry Potter book smelled. It was a paperback of the first book. Everytime I smell that book I think of the first time I read Harry Potter, all the late night book releases, the movies, having amazing moments with my friends, convention fun and hours I've spent just rereading the series.
I wonder if anyone else feels this way about books?

I'm watching "French Kiss" and I know it's cheesy, but i love it. There's something so romantic about Europe. And accents.

So I burned my finger pretty badly the other day while cooking. It immediately got all glazed over and shiny. Then last night I realized that if I touched the blistered part I couldn't feel anything, plus it was super swollen. I kinda had a hard time making a fist with my hand because of it. So I figured I needed to pop it. And I did. And it was icky. But now it's super sore. And I have to wear a band aid over it. I hate band aids because it makes the skin under it all soggy. Ugh.

On a less gross note. HP tours is now doing Twilight Tours. YESSS!! I really want to go on the Volterra Trip. It's probably super expensive and they probably spend no time in Volterra. I would totally settle for any of the trips in Washington though. I just want to see FORKS!!

And I'm watching Project Runway right now. I really think Kenley is going home since they did the whole "reflection on your life" thing. Plus I think she's been super rude to Tim and the judges. Which is a no-no.
